Key discussions focused on rental reform, particularly the reintroduction of minimum EPC standards, and the abolition of Section 21. The panel, which included experts from Nationwide Building Society, The Mortgage Works, and Propertymark, emphasised the growing need for clear regulatory guidance.

The conversation also highlighted a significant shift in the tenant demographic, with a notable increase in renters aged 55-64, reflecting broader housing market challenges. The panel agreed that any reform must balance tenant protections with support for responsible landlords, ensuring the PRS remains sustainable for all parties.

One major concern raised was the challenge landlords face in meeting the upcoming EPC C rating requirements by 2030. The panel advocated for clearer guidance and practical solutions to help landlords upgrade properties without burdening them financially.
